I just saw a piece on this on the 11pm Global news....

Looks like you guys had a "smashing" time!

When I see vehicles rolling like that it is a good reminder for me to tie-down the high lift jack laying in the back of my Land rover (and the big new axe :shock: ).

Having experienced first hand, a 2 1/2 times roll over on the Coquihalla last January I can say unlike falling out of bed in the middle of the night (due to no seat belt >), rolling over at highway speeds with equipment in the back (Ford Explorer) was not fun. Especially when one wakes up with a tool box lodged on the back of the neck and no door left on my side- thankfully I always wear my seat belt.
There were tools and equipment scattered in the snowy median but fortunately only the one heavy one made it into the front seats. One of the disadvantages when multi-purposing a vehicle (like our discos and RR) between work and using it for rear passenger use at other times.
Unlike my BC TEl days where the equipment was in the back with a screen to keep it out of the front in the event of an accident.

I made a cargo screen out of the heavy cargo netting you get to replace the rear tailgate in pickup trucks.

Only cost 7 bucks. I think it is a good investment until I can get a proper screen made up.

We have a lot of footage we had 5 hero cams and two other cameras plus extensive stills. We rolled a total of 30 cars over the 5 days.

We also had a few low tech crash test dummies & some hi tech accelerometers and other instruments.

The unbelted dummies had just brutal outcomes; we regular humans would be pure hamburger by the end of every unrestrained crash test.

I’ve always taken pretty good care of over ratcheting gear down but boy it’s a bit of a lottery to say the least.

Ray’s additional guard is worth thinking about.
