Island Plant tour.

#1 Post by Greg S » Sun Mar 21, 2010 10:26 pm

As posted on the Vancouver Island forum, we are expecting to go on a plant tour at a place that makes slings and sets up cables, does destructive testing of slings and winch hardware.
Should be on the 27th but details are still being worked out.

Details have been hammered out. 0930 in Chemainus in the parking lot of the Horseshoe Bay Inn, corner of Chemainus Road and Henry Road. From there we go to Test Right Rigging where Wayne will show us his operation and we can test our winches and find out how little they really pull. If you have any cable, tug straps or other stuff you want to donate to destroy on the test bench, bring it along.

Nine of us showed up at Test Right Rigging for an informative tour and test bench session. All the men were fully absorbed, the women whoever went for a coffee. We came away with a better appreciation for quality winching hardware, including cables. Wayne had a lot of stories for us and lots of broken equipment to emphasize the stories. Our two hour tour lasted from 10 AM till 3:30.

See you next time.

Hi Greg,

Sounds like a cool visit! Just like a episode of the Myth-Busters

Did anyone take any photos that we can stick up in the gallery?

cheers,
Andy
