Been working on getting my D2 ready for summer trips. One of the main purchases will be a RTT but b4 then I need a rack. Here is a very 'rough' idea of what I'll be getting. Have split a full rack into a front & rear so that I can lift off the complete rear rack & RTT during the week but keeping the front basket with Hella's on for day trips etc. In winter the front will have to come off also as even the roof bars are a real PITA with 14" of snow on the roof
Other mods will include 4.11 diffs with Trutracs, H/D rear prop, rack system in the back for all me junk and may be a new rear bumper if I have time to fab one up. Would like to get an extended range fuel tank also but that can wait a while, couple of jerry cans will have to do at the moment

Looking good Andy,
Did you have a particular Roof Top tent in mind?
I noticed that some fold out forwards which would mean your forward basket would have to be at the same level?
Maybe see it in action at the Rover Ranch this year in Armstrong???
cheers,
Andy

Was thinking about an Eazi-Awn or Howling Moon, although at present there are no north american outlets for the Howling Moon tent & I'd have to import it from the uk.
I've seen all the main brands at shows back in the uk and they can be mounted back, front, left & right opening, depends what you want. Most disco owners have them open to the rear as you get a 'roof' over the back door then for cooking in the rain.
All being well we'll be spending time out this year once the snow's gone and I've got the last few significant jobs done on our house.
Cheers,
Andy

That's a great looking setup.
I wish I could mount a RTT but so far I havn't found one that fits a family of 5.

Well... been contemplating the rack design for the past couple of weeks and in the meantime I took delivery of a rear door ladder from Rover Racks. Quality was very good and assuming the price & delivery fit my plans I'll be getting my rack from them in a little while. Design is now more 'regular' with a a couple of mods to suit my needs.

Also working on a storage rack for the back of the truck that'll hold the fridge, jerry cans & peli cases.... will post a pic once I start cutting steel.
Have been looking at the Overzone RTT from Autohome. Nice design, well spec'd and you can get a winter cover designed for use in the Alps.

And..... it's available from a distributor in Kelowna so no worries for service & support :D
