I drive a fair distance out o langley airport from North Van a few days a week and I am looking at uping my highway speed as well as saving a little on gas. I have a rover with a fairly new rebuilt engine with an 8:1 head and an overdrive and decently sized tires. I was told that Ashcrofts 4.11 ring and pinion set would likely be the best bet to get that last little bit of econmy fuel and a tad faster(raises gearing 15%) and it is about the 1/3 of the cost of a roverdrive.
So any of you think it is a good idea to glook more seriously into the Ashcroft idea? Any advice appreciated

I'm guessing that you are driving a series truck. Do you care about the off road gearing because that will be affected to.

I don't really do much off road except driving along logging roads and the odd stuff here and there. Most of my time is spent driving in the city and occasionally on the highway out to Langley.
I know rovers are not meant to have good fuel consumption and high highway speeds but I don't mind paying 5-700$ for the improvement instead of the $1700 roverdrive improvement if need be. If I can't find something that is fine I am happy with what I have . I was just wondering if anyone had up'd the gearing of their rover and how it worked out. Oh and yes it is a series 3
