Founders Day 2009 - important changes from previous events

#1 Post by DaveB » Sat Jan 03, 2009 7:51 am

Hi Everyone,

As you are no doubt aware, Founder's Day is only a week away!

This year there are some fairly big changes that you should be aware of:

1. We are in the BIGGER Agriplex, not the Showbarn. This gives us room for more vehicles and a better concession stand, as well as better air as the ceiling is much higher and any fumes dissipate better.

2. We are holding our Annual General Meeting at the event as usual, but the time will be 11 AM so it is done and out of the way and will not interfere with the rest of the day's activities.

3. At 1 PM we will have an off road course open on the site until 4 PM. This is a demonstration trials course, not meant to be very challenging but a way for you to test your vehicle, play a bit, and maybe even take someone else's truck for a turn around the course. Rides will also be offered to those who haven't experienced driving a Land Rover off-road.

4. Workshops. From approximately 3 PM until 6 PM we will be holding some workshops on various topics: a.) Changing and re-beading tires on the trail, b.) Handling and splicing of synthetic winch rope, c.) Trail welding, d.) Mounting and handling of snow chains.

5. The doors to the main vehicle display area will be open form 2 PM until 10 PM. You and your vehicle are welcome to come and go as you please, but you must be on site to win prize draws and awards.

6. Did someone say prize draws? Bring you piggy bank to buy tickets as our prizes this year are bigger than ever! Who knows what you'll get as a return on investment, but the odds are better than some days on the stock market recently!

7. Merchandise. We will have a good selection of merchandise, including the 25th anniversary tshirts, for sale this year.

This is the 25th Anniversary of the Rover-Landers of BC, so lets make this event the biggest Founder's Day event ever!

Things change every time I turn around. Seems I WILL be able to be there on Saturday. Might have to leave part way through the day as son #2 is car shopping and might want me to check something. Any one know of a good used Pathfinder, pre '96?
