Plugs

Perhaps a dumb question... but

On my old 2.5NA's timing belt cover, there was a well thought out bracket with a screen for the 'open' position and a dummy thread beside it to hold the plug handy in case the timing cover were to be closed. On my new engine there's just a threaded hole. Does one drive the truck with the timing cover plug in or out... or is that little plug only there for fording?

Cheers

Hello JD, You run with the plug out unless deep wading or fording.

Yep, It's more important to let any oil out than to keep dirt/water from getting in when in everyday normal use.
