fuel pump leak

I had to replace my fuel lift pump today cause it was spitting out diesel like crazy.
Lucky I had an old 'good' one around.
does anyone know...
Is my 200 tdi (disco) supposed to have that spacer behind the pump??
It felt tight going on and the priming lever doesn't really move.
