Land Rover Safe Harbours

Hi All,

After our trip to Colorado this past summer, I've had an idea brewing for awhile. I thought it would be both interesting and useful to compile a list of places along the way that would happily assist you if you had the misfortune of a breakdown while on a trek in your Land Rover. I know that never happens to most of us, so perhaps it's just a spot to stop for a brew...

Either way, if you know of a indy shop you would recommend, or a dealer that really cares, or a parts establishment you've had success with — even a wrecking yard, or if you are one of these places, could you email me with the details... daveblair [at] sunwave.net — or you could post it in this thread.

It would be good to have the following:
Name of Business
Name of contact person
Address
City
Phone
Description of service, Land Rover capability and your experience

I'm not only looking for BC contacts here, but everywhere you've been with your Rover.

I'm hoping to create and maintain a web page with the data. (This was also done recently by one of the Peugeot mailing lists and it was astounding the results they compiled of Peugeot mechanics all over North America.)

thanks, Dave

This list has been around for a long time http://www.birmabrightbrotherhood.org/

I haven't looked at it for a while. It may or mat not be helpful to you, but it is probably useful to have, especially travelling through the states.

Well, thanks, looks like I won't have to do this project...

Seems like a link to that site from ours might be in order. Maybe it could be done at the same time as the pictures on the front page are updated

After visiting the website of the Birmabright Brotherhood, and seeing that there is little in the way of detail about how many members, etc. (of course individual's right to privacy must be respected), I still think there might be a place for an expanded list of business contacts related to Land Rovers throughout North America.

So my request still stands as posted...

And yes, John, there will be additional changes to the website coming soon. If you haven't noticed the recent changes, start looking, cuz I've spent several evenings on it since Northwest Challenge. :P

thanks, Dave

Hey Dave keep up the good work, thanks

What about adding a section to the forum something like this or something better just an

Emergency LANDROVER Help or assistance away from home .
If you are a member and broken down away from home here is the place to plead for help or parts to get you back on the road.

What would be wrong with just adding a link to them, I have been a member for 5 years. there is an extensive list. , and you can add your self if you want to be available to help as someone travells through your area. . all the best, rick.m

I think they should be added to the links page. Start sending them my way...

OK, I've updated the links page to be our Safe Harbour list, at least temporarily... If it takes off, we can make it a more defined page. If you want to be added, or have a business to add, especially those outside BC, send it to me.

thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, I hate to be picky but Shipman is in Oregon not Worshington :? maybe you could put his phone number in the listing too, like the others.
