Shipping From UK

I have been doing a couple of containers a year for a couple of years and each time is different. The only constant is that is always costs more than anticipated and takes longer and it's only getting worse.

Cheapest is Roll-on/roll-off to either Halifax of Tacoma.. Usually around $2,500-$3,000 once the dust settles.

Next is container from from UK to Vancouver via Montreal (train). Around $3,000 if you split a 40' with someone. A container to Vancouver adds about $1,000.

Pricing are rising quickly, a quote that I got two months ago went up over 12% since.

Be prepared for the unexpected!!! Last trip; Ag Canada decided that the truck wasn't clean enough in Montreal....$1,600 for a wash and not a very good one. Then Customs in Vancouver decided to have a detailed look which is becoming more common...another $1,000.

I am heading over to the UK in a couple of weeks to arrange the next container for my Carawagon and '65 Forward Control and can report back if you like but it is best to wait until you are ready to ship.

Budget $3,000 - $4,000.

Don't know if this helps but should give you a general idea.

My 90 is coming RO/RO from Southampton to Tacoma in a few days, arrives mid December. Never used this route or shipping agent before, so if you can wait a while I'll let you know how I get on.

Hey David, is that the trip that leaves Southampton on the 19th of November? I think I will send my Forward Control on that ship also. I just drove it from Bern to the UK this weekend. Very slow but had a blast!!

Let's talk closer to arrival time and car pool perhaps.

Gutted ".....can't believe you haven't met anyone you trust yet?" You can use just about anyone they are just selling you a ticket on a voyage.

Good luck!

Fabulous Deal....

Speaking of shipping...

I was running around today getting some last bits I needed to send with my Swiss purchase and ran across a LHD 90 at one of the UK dealers.

I asked about it and the dealer was actually anxious to get rid of it. So the price if I paid him cash and took it immediately was only 3,000 pounds..amazing. Even has brand new BFG tires on it. It should be in BC the middle of next month roll-on roll-off...

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Don't know why so cheap but don't care. I imagine some poor guy left it there for "safe keeping".

Cheers,
