The Rover-Landers of BC

Hey just wondering if anyone can or would like to throw your two cents worth in about what you would do to improve your RRCs handling for both on and off the road?

PS I do have a budget and Im not a wild crazy go for broke sorta guy.... I have heard of Old mand Emu, Rancho, Scorpian etc but my head is buzzing with the products and $$ but wha :D t is a good set up for a daily driver and a weekend green laner?

Some might consider this sacrilege but I left the suspension on my 88 RRC stock with slightly taller tires than original. I was able to go anywhere I ever needed (or wanted) without a problem.

Tell us what off-road situations you are finding yourself and the RR unable to cope with in it's current configuration? I'm with Rob, I don't consider the swap from the stock Rover suspension to a jobber set-up to not necessarily be an "upgrade".

If you are needing to increase the load carrying capacity then there are a number of options including different Rover springs. If you need a little more room for larger tires then you might also consider a small body lift and retaining the stock suspension which works very well.

The only off roading that I can see myself doing is hopefully joining in on some of the club runs and the weekend logging road and washout adventures out here around chilliwack and Harrison. The only thing that I will be towing at this time is a 17 foot boat, perhaps next season a 20 foot (camping) trailer.

I think this is rather mild use of my RR but I do have have to install new shocks and was thinking that considering the age of this unit I could also put in new springs while I am at it.

My sister inlaw works for wakefield sperling and suggest installing Munroe sensa tracs on my RRC. My cost would be $36.62 X 2 front and $53.98 X 2 for the rear. I have asked her to also source for 4 new springs and I will install them at the same time. What do you think?

HI Rob,
I have a 1991 RRC with Old Man Emu springs and shocks. I now run 235-85-16 BFG MT's. I think it is a great set up with a lot of advantages over the stock set up. If you type in "old man emu" into the "search" box at the top of the page it will show you lots of previous discussion on the OME set up.

I put Monroe sensa tracs on my 87RR a couple of years ago.... very nice at first but they have not lasted long and suck now. They haven't leaked but the damping is very poor now, seems like the valving as failed or something like that. They where cheap when I got them but I don't think I'd buy them again.

Hey that does not sound so good :? , I was told that they have a lifetime warranty can you not have them replaced at no charge?

Does any one know of a source for 4 new springs (stock) for a 1991 RRC? I dont want to raise my vehicle just update my factory springs.
