I am considering getting my old frame and bulkhead sandblasted before I begin welding repairs and reassembly of my Rover. Has anyone done this, and if so what should I expect to pay? Also what about "dipping" the frame I called redi strip and they quoted me $2000-$2500!!! so I don't think thats an option!
Thanks, Matt

Hi, I used Gemblast located in chilliwack, They use a none abbrasive material that will clean to the bare metal without removing the good frame material. This company does does all types of materials including aluminum in aircraft bodies & frames with no distortion / removal of material. Very safe and they charged me around 225.00 cash to do my 80" frame. Just be prepared to locate all the rust in your frame that you didn't think was there. Jerry

Redi-strip sandblasted my bulkhead for $200, the 88" frame was done for $150 at a sandblasting outfit in Aldergrove. After welding repairs, I took the frame, and assorted pieces to Silver City on Annacis Island for galvanizing. They charged me $175 (their minimum charge) to galvanize my 88" frame and assorted other pieces. If I had been better organized, I could have had my bulkhead included in the deal at the same time. Everything stayed fairly straight, but you need to watch that the sandblasting is done by someone who knows how to avoid overheating the metal.

There is a place in Duncan. Rapid Blast is just off Highway 18. You should talk to Ted at 250 709-5841
