Just wondering if the club or some of the members are able to help byhauling people livestock etc from any of the areas that may be under water in the next couple of weeks?

I do understand we all have our families and homes to help out and secure first but if you are fortunate to be missed by the water maybe we can help?

Just thinking out loud as my family and I prepare to start emptiing our basement out and bring everything upstairs.

I think our flood preparations should be ok but will know on the 16th when the city has a meeting scheduled for our area at the local hall. I have a minivan with no seats in the back and i would also like to let anyone know that I will help out if there is a need.

Hi Rob, If I can help out I will. My ninety has a pintle hitch which could work on farm trailers and haywagons etc. Not much interior space but I could carry people short distances in a pinch.

:) Just wanted to let you know that your responses are greatly appreciated. I mentioned to my wife about this little blurb that i put on the site and your responses. I saw a big smile and she did not seem as stressed as she has been. Its kinda neat when she is not stressed Im not stressed..... sort of very cool therapy.

I went down to the dyke last night but they have now closed it and moved all the buildings that are portable out of the park...... getting kinda creepy! :? Between us and the river there must be a couple of hundred homes with families on fairfield island. They all below dyke level including the farms. Then there is us and a couple hundred more homes in our neighbourhood and we are along the hope slough........ Last year when we bought this home we thought Hey what a great location......... now we are thinking Hey I think we may be getting very wet!

Im just wondering maybe I will weed the garden and cut the grass just before the water touches our lawn, that will save a bit on the water.... I wont need to put the hose away. I guess there can be a bright side to a little spalsh from the mighty fraser........ I think this is were I hear the singing of the Monty Python crew and decide to become a Lumber Jack!

Cheers for now and lets all open our fridges and throw ice cubes outside to keep the heat wave at bay for a few more weeks!!!!!

are you sandbagging or is there no hope for that if the water breaks over? time to get the dust off the waterpumps hidden in the garage. i helped in Manitoba during the floods there and a lot of homes that took preventative steps prior to the flooding were in pretty good shape when the water broke. a lot of them didnt help no matter howmany sandbags but there were quite a number that survived.

Thanks everyone now the flood alerts are all over and live is back to normal. I hope next uyear is not as bad but it was a releif to be able to chat on the board about the concerns I had and not worry my wife and kids.
