Rebuilding an R380

Hi all.
Has anybody any experience rebuilding an R380 gearbox? I have been told that some special tools are required which are fairly expensive. I have done Series 3 boxes before but have been told the R380 is a completely different beast.
Any insight greatly appreciated.
