Had a CJ3A for years. Ran lovely until the coil got hot. Once the coil got hot thing started to miss, run rough and stall. Short in the windings wasn't detecable when cold. Replaced coil. Ran fine for a while. Then rough again. Coil bad again. Eventually located another high temp voltage leak at the generator. Fixed that and the new (again) coil gave no more grief.

Also had a similar problem on an M38A1. Bad ignition capacitor. But that was ugly cold or hot.
