Something for an engine other than a 2.25 litr rover engine?

Looking to set up an old series 109 rover for work but I know that a 2.25 litre just won't cut it for driving around the Shore. I hear Robert Davis in the U.S. makes rebuilds of a crossflowed GM 151 4 cylinder jeep engine I hear but they are pricey($5000.00 plus). Anyone know of a local shop(lower mainland) that do the same thing as say a Robert Davis conversion? Or is there a drop in or quite easy conversion of another engine that has some power to it and parts are assesible? Thanks ahead of time
