255/85 VS. 235/85 on a 90?

I'll be needing some new tires sometime this year for my 2.5 NA diesel 90. It has a 1.667 L230 from a 110 in it so the high range gearing is lower than nomal for a 90. I am running 235/85R16 Hankook T24 radials right now. I'm temped to get 255/85R16 tires like the Toyo M55, BFG MT, or Trxus insted of the 235 size when I buy new ones. Any experence with the 255 size on a NA diesel on here?

Hey Andrew,
I was running the 255 BFG MT's that you saw on my truck up at Whipsaw when I still had my 2.5 natural in. Standing acceleration sucked and there was an initial noticable effect on braking which I quickly got used to. The benefits of extra ground clearance and the overdrive effect on the freeway made up for the shortcomings in my opinion. Some tire rubbing at the rear under full articulation but nothing to worry about.

I've been running the 255/85R16 Bigfoot X/T's on the 90 for awhile now and have driven it back to and around Calgary. I have a 110 LT230 with the 1.667 high range, the 90 is great with these tires. I use first gear more but never really used to use it before and the 90 is nicer on the hwy now with less engine and tire noise. I would recomend these tires with a two thumbs up :)
