Ex-Military Series 3 .......

Hi Tim,

Yes they do spread a salt / sand mix over the roads here in Vancouver & more so up in Whistler (Whistler being in the mountains has a longer colder winter with a lot more snow than Vancouver).
Except for those of us who have a "collectors" (near perfectly restored) Land Rover, I would say 95% of us use our Land Rovers all through the winters. The salt can be washed off in the many car washes that now have under-vehicle jets or you can always hose it off your self!
I have spent winters in Sydney Australia & would say Vancouvers winters are very similar to Sydneys (with more rain).

I would guess at the value for a 1980 Ex-military Series 3 radio truck in Vancouver to be about $8000 - $12,000 Maybe a little more if you can find someone who is into the ex-military stuff!

Look forward to seeing you in Vancouver soon,
cheers,
Andy :D

The salt isn't a "worry", simply be aware of a need for a periodic wash down. A lot of jurisdictions are changing to a different sort of anti-icing agent, it is a liquid sprayed on the road and is far less intrusive. The salt is as much or more a hazard to the steel and there are a lot of cars driving around here with steel in them. The west coast and BC in general use WAY less salt than most other places (NE US, E Canada etc.)

My 2 bits.
