How do you guys feel about a heated windscreen for my 1995 90? Is it a must have or should I just put the old screen back in?
Also trying to decide about a hydronic diesel heater vs air.
What is your experience?

Hi Glen. I had a heated windscreen on my 90 when I lived in Vancouver. It was a necessity as I had three large dogs at the time and with their heavy breathing and wet coats the windscreen was always fogged up. It worked great and kept it clear. Now I have an older 110 and live up in Kingfisher where the air is dryer but still have two large dogs. In the 110 I have an Airtronic diesel air heater which quickly heats up the entire inside. I don’t have a heated windscreen, but I do have an upgraded blower motor and I have a plug-in radiator hose heater. This combination works well for me. I drive the truck on gravel roads every day and I do get rock chips on the windscreen, so I stay away from the heated windscreen. The upgraded blower motor makes the difference to me but there is nothing that will clear your window faster than a heated windscreen. Also, I always park my truck under cover.

Hi Glen,
I have a heated windscreen on my Defender and use it every single day in the winter, it melts ice and clears the windscreen very efficiently.
If you plan for your Defender to be a daily driver in Vancouver I would say its a great upgrade. Like Shawn mentioned, its easy to get a chip so if you do get one installed make sure its listed on your ICBC windshield insurance as they will only cover a regular windshield replacement unless you can prove it was "original factory fitted equipment" or have it specifically listed with them. (its a $1500 replacement cost  )
There are also Defender upgrade kits for defrosting windshields that are available as another option if that's you main concern.
Cheers,
Andy
