Used car sales tax in bc

#1 Post by paulg_d130 » Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:45 am

Hey All
In case you aren’t aware BC just changed the taxes on used vehicles to be book value vs actual price paid

There is a petition circulating to repeal it

Good to know Paul, I had heard about this a while ago but had forgotten all about it ...

It's already really annoying that we have to pay any tax on used vehicles.

I wonder how they will figure out the "book value" of a 65 year old Land rover that requires a full restoration?
Is there a link out there so we can all see what the ICBC vehicle "book values" are?

I believe they want to charge tax on the greater of what you paid or the current “wholesale” value of the vehicle. And the “wholesale” value changes all the time. Typical money grab by politicians.
