D1 fan clutch

#1 Post by landcrabmechanic » Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:50 pm

Anyone in Kelowna area have a disco 1 fan clutch for sale? I believe mine failed in freewheel mode today as I almost overheated on the coq today.

Hayden makes a drop in, that works on D2. Hayden 2781, 2791 or 2991 regular /heavy /severe duty cycles. I believe they also work on a D1.

You should be able to get one at Lordco or similar - check Rockauto for part numbers

More likely than the fan clutch, if its still the original rad, it’s time to replace or recore your radiator. I did this in my D1 and she stopped overheating right away. Best $$ I’ve spent on her.

Thanks rgallant, I will look those up.
Bsa_m21 my rad is good. I do know the fan clutch has failed.

I will look for a Hayden.

Cheers

Problem with the Hayden fan clutches is they are for a Chevy astro van. I would have to drill out my fan mounting bolt holes. Not into doing that.
