Anyone know if the STAWAMUS-INDIAN MAIN FSR is open? I was thinking of taking the family down the road on the May long weekend.
Thanks

There is typically too much snow to go very far down that FSR until around June time, although of course every year is a little different depending on snow pack.
If you try it, let us know how it goes ...

cheers
Andy

Seasonal deactivations, so the only way to know is to go there, the gov website is suitably vague. But it is a nice drive.

This was taken May 8th. There was about a kilometre hike at the top to get to the other side

I don’t think your chains are big enough for that snow!

Made it there and back safe and sound. Everything held up a okay. Route was snow free at the summit. Easy drive there and back great for nervous families. At the Indian arm side the breeze was warm and camped at the point.

Nice going, a bit cold for swimming I guess!

There must be some logging going on for them to plough the road?

Yes it was a nice weekend. Squamish was very busy, Stawamus Indian FSR was also busy with fair amount of off-roaders, motorbikes, and even gravel cyclists. The road is pretty tame by our standards, just a bit more rough at the summit area, but get smoother towards the Indian arm end. I was surprised to see a fair amount or vehicles park on the side of the road about 5 km from the end with lots of people choosing to camp on the sand bars mid stream of the river.
My new-to-me LR3 (Angus) drove fine and was great for sleeping in with all that room inside, it’s the first time I had the ability to use some of the Terrain Control settings and HDC “Hill Decent Control”, but sure is a lot of electronics to aid in driving and working the HDC is a bit of an art. I love it as a family adventure vehicle (which has a real love of petrol) but the Disco feels more capable in the long run.
