Good video.
What are the recommendations for a decent hand held radio that won’t break the bank?

You can't use a handheld radio on a forestry service road in Alberta, it must be a vehicle mounted radio.
The Baofeng radios do not have acceptance for use in Canada, and without an IC acceptance number near the model and serial number, they are illegal to use.
I think this may help you fellows out there, the
Radiocommunication Act:

Not all Baofengs are illegal in Canada. This website sells them and explains the difference between the illegal and the IC certified legal handheld Baofeng models for the Canadian market

The challenge is the frequency limitations as most FSR frequencies are outside of the HAM frequencies. I know that Mosaic has provided letters to some of us who use their roads authorizing us to use their frequencies when on their road system but it means either having a FSR frequency capable radio or renting one.
Regardless of the arguments about radio legalities the video does do a good of emphasizing the importance of communication on the FSRs... that was really the point of me sharing the video link in the first place.
