Cummins 12V turbo transplant?

Has anyone done a Cummins 12V turbo transplant into a Disco, Defender or Series? I know they are heavy (~1100LBs), but they can also develop an easy 4-500 HP and are good for 300k between rebuilds. There are a lot of them around from 90’s era Dodge trucks already mated to NV4500 trannies, for relatively low $$. And, there are adapters for NV4500 to our transfer cases.

Anyone done this?

Look up the Cummins Land Rover group on Facebook. Everything you need to know is there.

Thanks Red90.

Been there already. Was looking for anyone in the BC lower mainland with experience and hopefully a conversion I could see. No substitute for first hand experience, I say. 😯🤫😁

I have not seen a rover with a 6bt in it. I mean you can fit any engine into anything depending on how much cutting and welding you're willing to do, but that is a lot of iron. Other minor issue is redline on a 6bt is somewhere around 3200 rpm. So to make 300 hp at 3200 rpm you are putting out something close to 500 ft-lbs of torque. Not a big deal for the lt230, but axles are likely to need some serious attention, or swapping to something stronger.

So when do we start?
