Anyone who has an old Land Rover knows the name Dunsfold, not only for the amazing collection amassed over the years but for being the source for those unattainable old parts. I have received many original parts in little boxes wrapped in wax paper from the 50's. In business since 1968 it will be sorrily missed.

I was looking for a couple of bits for the 1952 restoration we are doing and received an email with a pro-forma invoice on Monday morning from Tim. I replied to go ahead and didn't hear anything. A few days later the LRSOC had a post about Philip retiring and closing the business. I checked the website and the following message had been posted
Dunsfold DLR has now closed due to Philip retiring after many happy years trading since 1968. The workshops and parts departments are now closed. I will be concentrating my time on the wonderful Dunsfold Collection. Thank you for your custom over the years. Philip
If you haven't seen it I would recommend having a look at the impressive collection of unique Land Rovers of the Dunsfold Collection http://www.dunsfoldcollection.co.uk

I can't believe it. Dunsfold closed?? Say it ain't true!

I'm surprised they didn't post a few month notice and have a sale or something. Such a loss.

But I've known Phil for almost 25 years, and I just retired, so I guess it's OK for Phil too also. :bounce:

Hope he has many years of playing with his collection. :80inch:

That’s a shock as Dunsfold had a very significant following of early series enthusiasts. Maybe he has sold the business to help fund his retirement. Guess we will find out.
Spent a couple of happy hours with Phil rummaging through their parts supply and eyeing a few of the Collection on site.
I showed our 1950 a couple of times at their bi-annual show. This event stressed Phil and the volunteers somewhat, having to bring so many vehicles out of barns from all over, get them mobile and cleaned up, but once all in place there was always the beer test to wind down a bit. A great event, and assuming it continues check it out if over there.
Eric.
