The Rover-Landers of BC

Hi All,

I recently bought a 67 series 2a, and I am converted the brake to dual line using the method of putting a series 3 brake tower (ordered one from Ike) with the according master and servo. I’ve come across something weird in that the bracket in the photo below bumps up against the corner of the tower. There’s one on either side and from what I see regular series 2a they are straight and farther in, as opposed to being on an angle like mine.

Does anybody know what these are for? Can anybody shed light on the angled versus straight? Can I cut it off to put the tower in?

That's exactly were that bracket is supposed to be at least on a 109 model, I just looked at my 1962 and my 1969 Dormobiles.
However a 88 model Land rover may have straight braces?
Its original purpose was as a bulkhead strengthening corner brace, I believe a rod went from that bracket down to the frame. I have never (except) on a series one seen one with a rod, as the heater (if its fitted) in the engine bay gets in the way, and the side with the steering column never seemed to have a rod.

If its in the way cut it off (unless you want to keep the rover totally original) I have found that bracket to get in the way when installing brake and clutch lines and tightening heater hose clamps on the other side.

Your welcome there are a fair number of us old Land rover owners on Vancouver Island. Victoria and Duncan both seem to have lots of rovers.

When I added power brakes to my pickup I had to cut that bracket off as well. Like Victor said it’s for a strengthening rod.
