Hello Roverlanders!
Any chance that someone knows source for a working TD5? I have been quoted 20,000CAD to replace my hydro-locked one. The head gasket and head seem to have failed. Conn rods may be a problem as it won't budge... and I'm not sure my 110 is worth that much!
TD5 hydrolocked! Source for another?

In the end a local rebuild will probably be cheaper. $20000 is a crazy price.

Where did you get that quote from
Was the engine shut off as soon as it was hydro-locked? Depending on what damage you did, it could just be a bent conrod or blown head gasket. All the parts are likely available locally (Vancouver) and I would think even if an independent work shop did the work, it should be more like $5000. (unless the block is cracked).
First thing would be to remove the head and evaluate the damage before giving up on the engine.
Hope its not too bad for you!
