Im thinking of swapping out what i believe to be a 25d distributor for the electronic distributor from 3 brothers.
Any advice?

Sure, go for it, eliminates the need to file and adjust pesky points! This is also a topic often discussed by the MG crowd as many of their cute little cars also use the Lucas 25D distributor. Here is a good article about conversions https://classicmotorsports.com/articles/zap-it/

I had the Fireball system on a SWB 2A with a 2.25 and it worked very well (though it needed a slight modification to the ignition coil circuit). The swap to a 45D-style electronic distributor is a popular upgrade. Only advice (and you'll see it mentioned often) is carry a spare of some sort (i.e. a spare distributor, maybe your old one) because if the electronic distributor fails it isn't something that can be serviced easily in the field. The beauty of the old-school points-type distributor is that you can carry service parts with you and fix it in the field if it fails. Then again, the failure rate for the electronic version is pretty low from what I understand so might never be an issue for you anyway. The 3 Brothers kit also keeps the "classic" look versus the external boxes on some of the other models available.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out for you!

Cheers, Rob

You can also get it from here: https://simonbbc.com/k2-powerspark-elec ... stributor/

I used this in a series one. It was great. It's cheap enough you could buy two and small enough to keep a spare with you, but I never needed it.

Found out rocky mountain has an electronic distributor for much less money than three brothers. Also less than a kit to put into 50 year old distributor. Will be my route. Thanks to all that contributed to this.

Mike,
Don't see anything on their website regarding this distributor. Do you have a link to which one it is?
Cheers

Its the britpart 45d style distributor with the electronic points in it. Same one as three brothers. Actually had it in my hands today. On my list. Probably next.
