The Rover-Landers of BC

I'm looking at going to 255/85r16 for my 110.

Anybody have any info on preferred tires in this size and any hints on places to find them at a reasonable price?

How long is a piece of string? What kind of tires do you want?

For your typical on/off road mud tire, the BFG KM3 and the Toyo MT are probably the most popular and also quite expensive.

I did read through that, but was hoping for anyone that drives locally in BC to chime in, especially on where they bought tires. I'm pretty sure it's only the BFG KM3 Toyo's that fit my needs. Any body care to chime in on where they bought tires?

Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx come in that size but they are a E range LT tire. I like them had them on an R50 Pathfinder and my Disco they seem to work well.

Not sure of the price though

The Cooper ST Maxx are 288 a tire, The Cooper ST (non Maxx) at 305 a tire, the BFG KM3 at 370 a tire, and the Toyo MT's at 335 ish.

It seems the 255 is kind of a specialty size and everyone jacks the price up quite a bit. Anyone have a favourite tire spot in the lower mainland? It looks like I'm going to pay through the nose, so I might as well support somewhere that treats us well.

I purchased my BFG KM's from Canadian Tire at $370 each, mainly because if you use their Options Master Card you can get Can Tire Money back (on your card) and you can pay it back interest free for 1 year :shock:
I probably could of found them cheaper somewhere but this option gave me a year to pay it back and its local.

On saying that, I have heard that if you can get a good deal ($330 Can / US$245) if you order them in Bellingham and drive over and get them fitted and drive back. In theory they are "used" by the time you get back to the border so you can decide if you want to declare them or not :blackeye: cough cough .... :roll:

Yes, as above, if you are in the lower mainland buy in the US and drive down. Tires are cheaper there.

I've also got recommendations for the Toyo m-55 as the quintessential BC bush tire. And point taken on the going to US. Even with exchange it seems about 25% less. I'm going to send Toyo Canada and BFG some notes and see if I can get any interest in providing discounts for the club. Not holding my breath but doesn't hurt to ask.

There is something weird with the tire industry in Canada. I used to have a friend that would sell me tires at wholesale. It was still higher than retail in the US.

If you get a Club discount on BFG KM3 let me know as I’m also looking at them in 235/85R/16 need 5.
