Best winter car camping spots?!

Hey guys,

Looking for some good tips on areas around the lower mainland for good car camping with a few Defenders and our roof top tents. In the summer months we like to get as far from people as possible, but with snow in a lot of those areas we’re looking for good places to get away that are a few hours max from Vancouver and offer good views but are not campsites etc.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Hi Matt ,that is a pretty tough set of requirements this time of year. I am in Mission and we had snow for a couple of hours today, there a number of spots up West Harrison that should be pretty quiet this time of year. Road conditions are likely to be marginal, but up to Doctors Creek/Bay and beyond is pretty nice. I have camped in that area in early spring before and it has been pretty quiet, I usually investigate side roads, and camp off the side of those. Anything further east could be pretty snowed in still.

East Harrison is nice but nowhere to really camp where you get a nice view of the lake that is not a campsite,up past Silver Creek on the Koopi is very nice but they have logged a fair bit up there the last couple of years.

Up towards Whistler / Squamish will have the same problem I expect.

Actually while I was typing this there is a nice string of campsites off the the Nahatlatch FSR just down the FSR, towards Boston Bar from where the Koopi hits it. Vancouver Coast Mountains backroads map book map 36 C7,it is marked as a Prov campsite but the 2 times I stayed there I never saw a soul, might be a bit far though
