I posted a want add for a carburetor but I was
Wondering if anyone knows of a alternative
To the original carburetor for a
1956 series 1 swb 86” that works well with the
2 litre engine.

My truck had a unoriginal Willy’s Jeep carter carburetor. It was in poor condition so did not try to start it.

If anyone had a carburetor for a series 1 please let me know. Thank you

There are a lot of old threads talking about carbs on here. The search function is your friend.

Your options are:

Find an old solex and get it rebuilt. Not sure if anyone has a spare kicking around, but this is probably your best long term option, also best for resale value for you. There are some chinese clones out there ... YMMV.

Weber 34 ICH - I used this on a series one and thought it was decent, but Ray who bought that rover ditched it for I think for a rebuilt solex. I think the issue was a bunch of silicone I used on the fuel pickup falling into the tank. The jetting from the factory will get it running, but isn't great, I think it needed a smaller idle jet and larger main jet, or maybe the other way around. I don't remember but it's in the old threads somewhere. They are fussy on fuel pressure so make sure you have a setup that gives 3 PSI without any pulsing.

There are a couple old GM rochester's you can make fit, but I've only used them on old GM 6s. They all look way to big for a 2.0 to me, but some have used them successfully.

The zenith from series 11's is also apparently a good option, but they are not super available. I've never seen one on a series one.

If that doesn't work you can go full odd ball and megaquirt it. I love the idea of a fuel injected IOE engine.

As mentioned above, the Weber 34ich is the easiest direct replacement carb for the series one 2L engines. Try Jeremy @ Rocky Mountain parts he can get the new Weber kit for you I’m sure.

Yes I went back to the Weber after my Solex clone literally fell apart while driving.

I had the chance to buy an original carburetor
But with the distraction of work and everything else by the time a remembered it was sold.

Would a early solex from a series 2 with 2.25l work? Of course I have 3 of these. The engines
Are basically the same size no ?
