Bulkhead back from paint

Thought I'd show everyone what I'm doing , started this about 11 years ago when I bought the marsland chassis , I built the diffs a couple years after and everything has sat since then until a year ago . Nos leaf springs from Ike , power brakes , roamerdrive , I rebuilt the trans and transfer box plus the 2.5 n/a diesel . New wiring harness from British wiring everything is either new or rebuilt . Had a hard time with the colour .I love pastel green but my 59 is a light green , thought about bronze green but decided to go land rover sand . I have a long way to go hoping to have it done next year , but just wanted to share. Troy

Looks great! Love the colour. With the bulkhead fitted, you can really start bolting on the parts.

Well after not being able to touch the 88 for the last couple months due to the cold weather ( I work on it outside) I managed after a few days of struggling to get the thing fired up and running :bounce: :bounce: just need to bolt the overdrive on it and the mechanical end is pretty well done . It's noisy and it's Smokey like everyone here that owns a n/a knows but it's pretty cool. Going to get started on the rest of the body and I need to get the trim galvanizing done somewhere, lots of work yet but it's coming.

Well been slowly picking away , found a capstan winch , rebuilt the winch built a new plate for it and a drive as it didn't come with one . Tub had the have the floor and supports replaced as well as the back angle piece and the taillight panels . Finally got around to putting the overdrive on . The door frames needed to be repaired and put new skins on . The tubs on and the bulkhead is adjusted , need to put the hinges together and hang the doors next . Slowly getting there.

New 1964 lol , unfortunately iam going to be afraid to take it anywhere , that's until the first scratch I guess. Still lots to do yet , going to have to decide whether to fix the tropical top I have for it or go with a canvas top . Pros and cons to both I guess .

Amazing build Troy!!

Shared this with my Son Pieter. Hope to inspire him to get back on our 1966 Series 2a, Tweety.

Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks,
Don

Decided that I didn't want vinyl seats so I am in the process of building my own seats I finished the middle back this weekend except for the wood trim on the back and thought I would share . I made the seat backs out of stainless ,and the seat bases out of maple plywood . I put aluminum screen over the holes to keep the critters out , burlap on the sharp edges then the automotive foam then batting over that and then the seat material. The material is lawn furniture fabric , it's water , UV ,mold resistant . The brown looks good against the sand and hopefully I won't get all sweaty while driving it . Iam pretty happy how it turned out considering I have no idea what iam doing lol . The wife was a huge help with the fabric . 5 more to go .

Very nice work, they came out great! The screens are a great idea  to keep the mice out

Just curious, did you consider using Aluminum instead of Stainless? Mainly due for easier cutting and weight reasons.

After I cut out the stainless I thought about it lol , one nice thing about the stainless is I brushed it with scotchbrite and it will stay like that for along time , aluminum after awhile will start going frosty when left raw . They are heavier though but only by a few pounds . We use alot of stainless at work also so I was able to get it really cheap , zip cut and a roto broach I had them cut out in no time .

Was able to put the gate , marker lights and mirrors on . I bought lightweight mirror arms years ago so I decided to use those , they are a little long , not sure if I like them , maybe won't be as bad with the tire on the hood . What do you guys think .

Thanks lol , actually I was asking what everyone thinks about the mirror arms length , too long ? But thank you it has been alot of work , there is light at the end of the tunnel .

I wonder if you slide the mirror part down the support a couple of inches, maybe they wouldn't look so long?

Quite often you see the mirrors moved to the door hinge locations as they don't vibrate as much and a rubber blanking grommet put into hole in the fenders

Yeah I thought about that also , I should of picked up the military top door hinge so I could of mounted the mirrors on the doors . I've ordered smaller arms , maybe I will cut 2 inches off the long ones that will make them i6 inches instead of 8 .

It's Done !!! Took it for the first drive tonight ! Only issue that I have so far is that when you hold your foot on the brake it blows the fuse , it's a 5 amp fuse should I be going a little bigger ? It doesn't blow right away but after a few seconds of the brake being applied it blows .anyway glad it's finished , it was awesome taking it for its first drive.

Thanks , I'm super happy with it , love the the diesel around town it's awesome , on the highway it's definitely noisy and not a powerhouse but seems to keep up with traffic so guess can't ask for more than that .
