Disco 1 Rear View Mirror replacement
Hey all
My Disco 1 has a leaking rear view mirror.... proving that No, there is nothing on a Land Rover that doesn't leak.
I can get a replacement (used) one for a few bucks but what I want to know is if anyone has attempted to retrofit a Disco 2 or other Land Rover model mirror that also has a compass or temperature?
I've also heard that you can retrofit a mirror from another brand of vehicle, apparently some GM models use the same mounting tab on the windshield. Has anyone done this?

Re: Disco 1 Rear View Mirror replacement
My Disco 1 came with a mirror from another car. I don't know which one. It was mounted BESIDE the original mount. So, if you go that root, probably anything will do.

You should be able to do a mirror swap with a disco 2. I had map lights built into mine which are hard to find so I ended up shipping mine off to be repaired. They replaced the glass and now it autodims again. The place is in Texas but it was pretty quick. http://www.radar-mirror.com/Mirror_Repair.html

Re: Disco 1 Rear View Mirror replacement
I just bought a 97 Disco with the same mirror problem. Here's what my research dug up:
Magna Donnelly is the company that makes the rear view mirror for the Land Rovers. They will replace them free of charge. Send an email and digital photo, preferably showing the nature of the fault. Be sure to include your model and year.

Can't report on the effectiveness of this fix, as I haven't heard back yet, but I only sent the email late last night.

I have no idea. I have a D1 and it came with them. I couldn't find a decent replacement so I opted for sending mine out for repair.Do the Disco 2 mirrors have map lights? I do like them in mine...
