p38 hard start
hey guys I just picked up a real nice 1997 p38 range rover it runs great ....once it starts lol ...it is hard to get going cold or hot doesnt matter I have replaced fuel pump air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor full tune up and it is still hard to start have to crank for a bit then she goes always starts just hard to get to do it any ideas ? I have scanned it no engine codes and all the sensors seam to be reading ?? i am stumped any ideas ? :cry:

Starter motor?
Try putting the key in "ON" and waiting for 30 seconds BEFORE starting. Does it start better? Had experience with an old van where the injectors wouldn't hold pressure. Given 30 seconds, the fuel pump could get the pressure back up and it would start nicely. Even the mechanic said it was easier to just wait-and-start rather than paying a hefty bill to fix it.
Other problem area on any Land Rover with electronics: check alternator and battery. If either or both is/are weak, just about anything can happen.

I think your right I just tried it stone cold turned key waited about 10 - 20 seconds cranked and it fired immediately guys I need to change injectors next ...thanks :bounce:
