Does anyone know where I can purchase an International 2.8 TGV diesel engine in North America? They are made in Brazil.
I understand this engine should just bolt right up to my 1970 Series IIA transmission - can anyone confirm this?

Any thoughts?

Send me a PM and I'll put you in touch with someone who might know. They have put one in their truck.

They have not been built for a few years. AFAIK, M&D engineering is the only company that has any, http://www.mdengineering.co.uk/ other than people that may still have some laying around.

It would appear the engines are still made in Brazil: here's a link to the .pdf which is in Portuguesered90 wrote:They have not been built for a few years. The 2.8Tdi may still be in production though in limitted or special order batches. M&D may still have some available. As kitted with 300Tdi parts they will bolt up to R380 transmissions. A series trans will not be strong enough. Only the R380L is considered strong enough for this engine. It is a lovely engine. Quiet and powerfull. Gets just a touch less miles/gallon than the 300Tdi. I bought mine through Prinz Moteren in Holland. I have seen series rovers for sale with a 2.8Tdi installed but not often. Dixon has a template for 2.8/300 Tdi engine feet on a defender frame. Once those are welded in then it is all very straight forward.... in a Defender.
Hope this helps.

You are looking at a lot of "other" modifications. I looked into it for my Series IIa and on very good advise rebuilt an old 200TDi which bolted right in, also don't forget the custom intercooler you will require. The Transmission is an issue and the standard Series gearbox probably will not handle it. I went to a Santana transmission which is far more durable and I love the combination.
Either way it's a big and expensive upgrade but lovely when done right.
I will probably have my Series truck with the 200TDi at Founders Day if you are attending please come have a look.
