Yes, chainsaw is always a good idea.
Last year there was plenty of wood in the area, (we made good use of it) but we can also collect some along the way to be safe ... there will be lots of wind /dead fall along the way up Texas Creek.

Well, I really would like to go on this trip but my chef and driver is busy sewing up a storm so she wont be going.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
So I figure I just go by myself and slum it, with Smokies and coffee see you all at Tim hoes 9-930

Sunny and stunning in Pemberton. I have a chainsaw with us. But forgot the parachute so if anyone has any at home, Pete says he'll help me hook it up

That was an amazing time! The views were stunning, the pucker great and the whole experience unforgettable!
Pete, thanks for the invite
Andy, thanks for the advice and letting me tag along
Mike, thanks for the gas.
It was great to meet you all. Now I just need to decide whether or not to Rover up... Might be nice to be a foot narrower and 3 shorter.

Hey Paul, it was good to have you out!
I've still got a lot of pix to go through, but here's the highlight of our trip this weekend... the first minute of us leaving the summit of Ochi Basin.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for organizing and leading this run.
Hands are still cramped from the white knuckle driving! Nonetheless a memorable event.

I filmed the hour long trip from our campsite to the top of the trail. But being as long as it is, I sped it up by 400% so it would fit on youtube. You can watch the video of our ascent below:

The pictures and videos are amazing. It looks stunning up there. What happens when the convoy meets someone coming the other way?

Re: Ochi Basin / Texas Creek - 14-15 Sep 2013
You say a collection of really bad words I won't repeat here!
Seriously, there was another group on the Ochi trail at the same time. We coordinated by radio to manage this and not end up with a traffic jam at the top. On the way down, there was a late member of their group and a quad who nicely waited at the bottom of the hill until we had passed.
We did end up head-to-head to next day with two Toyotas (including a rather nice 2 door Prado). They graciously agreed to back up about 150' until they could get over to the side.
So, it requires a lot of understanding, practicality, flexibility and a realization no one is getting anywhere quickly. That's a small price to pay for the adventure and the scenery.

Very Nice video, I liked the "hanging off the side" effect. 8)
