Alexander Mackenzie Trail

#1 Post by kRiS » Fri Dec 24, 2004 12:55 am

There is a group of people that are interested in doing Alexander Mackenzie Trail this summer , end of August.
I am posting this to see if anyone would be interested in joining us on our trek.
For those of you who are not familiar with Mackenzie Trail you can have a look at some pictures from a trip in 2002 that we did.

This trip is in a planning stage so if anyone interested have any suggestions, comments or questions , please feel free to jump right in.

We were thinking about meeting Friday and that would give us a full weekend the week and come back following weekend.
Nine days would provide us with plenty of time to explore and spend a day or to at a lake somewhere along the way.

Where does the trail begin and end?

I'm interested, but want to make sure we have time to smell the flowers, not just drive from dawn to dark.

Would you consider a starting point in Quesnel/Titetown Lake and head west?

I was wondering if after we reach Anahim Lake we could head south through the Chilcotin and see if we can connect up with Pemberton via Mud Lakes roads. I know there have been several tries to hit the Chilcotin from the south, but I've always been too short on time to try it from the north. I was looking at the new relief Backroad Map book of the area and it looked like several roads went through.

I'm interested although not a member until founders day. Kris will you be at Founders day? Maybe we could have an early meeting at Founders day for those that are interested.
Cheers

hey Dave, that sounds like a good idea,
one of the reasons were planning to do the trip again is because I found that last time we just burned through the trail and didn't have time to actually enjoy it.

and yes I will be at the founders day as so many others that are interested in this trip.
you don't have to be a member of rover landers to join us on this trip, I am not

Hi Kris, so far it looks like I'm a go for the August trip. Once we hammer down the dates I can be more sure.

A good place to start is here in our photo gallery: http://cougar.bcnewsgroup.com/gallery/album60

Then, you might want to type in Alexander Mackenzie Trail BC to Google and you'll see some of the treks others made over the route — mostly on foot or horseback.

Hi Kris,
I'm committed with my 90, so is Bernie and his wife with their 110, two more trucks are potentially interested.

that's great,

I believe Dave is working on a sing up form, just to give us an idea of how many trucks will come along.

Hi!

Sounds like a fun trip, if my job lets me go, I'll be there.

Do I need to be a member of the club to go? I am in Alberta so I have limited abilities to attend most club functions.

I'll probably take my 110 for the trip.

Hi Obsessed,

Generally speaking our club welcomes other participants on our club runs even those without a Landrover, we just don't advertise the fact. I don't think that this trip is any different although this could be a big group, I have had one other non-member express interest but has not confirmed yet. I suppose as usual half the people will jamb out at the last minute anyway.
