Lift?
Seems like a silly question but I haven't seen a lot of stock Defenders around... How do I know if it has a lift kit? I thought it must have because it has 255/85r16 on it but I was reading the forums and apparently you can put these on a stock suspension. I asked the mechanic who looked it over for me, Doug Shipley, and he said he thought it had one but now I'm wondering. How can you tell for sure?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Lift?
If it has black coil springs with colored paint daubs then you have genuine land rover coils. They can vary as far as ride height but no more than 1.5".
If you have yellow or solid black they could be Britpart or Old Man Emu coils which can lift the truck by around 1.5-2.5"...or more depending...
Also I have seen spacers under the coils which would also lift the body.
Looking at your picture it looks like a may have a slight lift...or just good "fresh" coils.
If you go to 2" you need to start considering modifying other suspension components as well.
Mine has Genuine heavy duty land rover springs as a reference.

Re: Lift?
Running 255/85R16 BFG KM2 on new (1 yr) genuine HD coils. It does ride a little hard when unloaded but they still seem to have good articulation, and when kitted out it's perfect.Arcades wrote:Nice looking truck! What size tires are you running? you don't have a lift, just hd version of stock coils? Just gives me a reference...
The only thing I don't like...and it's purely a visual thang...is that due to the front coils being "handed" the driver side does sit a little higher when the truck is sitting level. I guess once I am in it, it all levels out...but i can't tell anyways.
