Poison Mountain-China Head-Mud Lakes-Big Bar- Aug 4th-5th
Hi All,
As per the RL calendar we are lining up a trip that runs through the following highlights;
Poison Mountain-China Head-Mud Lakes-Big Bar ferry-Brigham Hot Springs on Sat-Sun-Mon Aug 4th-5th-6th
The plan is still evolving but basically we will start off at the East end of Carpenter Lake on Saturday morning and come out near Clinton on Monday morning, returning to Vancouver on Monday afternoon.
There is a chance the Big Bar ferry wont be operational due to high and fast running water so we will have a plan B in place to exit the valley.
Carpenter Lake is a few hours from Vancouver so a Friday afternoon departure is recommended or it will need a very early Vancouver departure on Saturday morning.
Let us know if you are interested in coming along, there will be more details as the week progresses.....
Possible convoy up there for those departing at the same time.
Cheers,
Andy :dormy:

We'll be there Friday night at the Rec Site below the dam on Carpenter Lake. You mean this one right?

Hi Dave,
Great to hear you can make it, your link just shows the Home site?
I was thinking of meeting here Friday evening / Saturday morning:
https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=carpenter ... e&t=m&z=15
Just at the East end of Carpenter Lake, at the end of that little dead end road on the map (there is a photo of the camping area you can click on on the Google street view).

Yes, that's the same site I'm talking about. The BC Rec Site link doesn't always work, but if it does you'll see that it has a photo very similar to what google is using.
Its a 5.5 hour drive from Vancouver, so you'd really have to be getting up early to arrive by 9:30 or so Saturday! Best to leave Friday night even if you only get part way.

I was thinking of leaving Friday early afternoon and either via Hurley FSR or the Duffy lake through Lillooet. Would you folks like to meet up Friday and head out together? I'm open to any route.

I am planning on attending the poison mountain run as my schedule finally lets me.
Tiff and I will be heading up Friday via the hurley and possibly staying the night at Gun lake or the rec site on Carpenter lake.......
Departure time is not ironed out but sometime in the early afternoon and I always enjoy rolling convoys.
Cheers,

Hi Ryan,
Great to hear you are coming along, its an awesome area to explore!
I have to work Friday but I am hoping to leave Richmond around 3.30 so will be in Squamish around 5pm.
The plan for those leaving later on Friday is to meet at the Tim Hortons in Squamish between 5 and 5.30pm.
It's still about 4 hours to the East end Carpenter Lake from Squamish so we should arrive at the camp site before dark (9.30pm).
Sounds like both you and Chris will be ahead of us, but if you get delayed we will see you at Tims. I have PM'd my cell number to you both, could you PM or email your numbers back to me so we can keep in touch on Friday
Cheers, Andy

Great place to explore and great weekend, despite the heat and lack of A/C in my 110. Big thanks to Dave and Pamela for leading the way.

Seems like you all had an awesome trip!
I looked through the pictures in the gallery and a photo by Derek Warne caught my eye of a pictograph. Is there a larger resolution I could see of it, and does anyone have any co-ordinates on it?
Cheers,
Shane

That photo actually belongs to the OORA event a few weeks earlier. The petroglyphs are on a rock on the southwest side of the bridge at Farwell Canyon. Basically you take a small trail to the left when you're driving from the bridge, about 200 feet from the bridge itself. You can drive right up to it. The trail is easy to miss. Once you're on it, the Petroglyphs are quite obvious as the trail drives right up to them.
We'll be moving the photo to the correct folder on the gallery soon so you might have to look for it again.
