Vacncouver back roads?

#1 Post by coop » Tue Jun 26, 2012 10:07 pm

Hi,

Any good advice for a 3 to 5 day trip on Vancouver Island in an old series truck. Mostly interested in camping and scenic little back roads.

Thanks

The loop on the south island would make a nice trip - start in Victoria and head out to Sooke, Jordan River, Port renfrew then over to Lake Cowichan and back to Victoria. Some campgrounds along the way (China Beach is a great spot) plus lots of logging roads and trails along the way. Main route of travel is all paved though narrow and hilly in spots.

I also like the route from Honeymoon Bay to Bamfield and then to Port Alberni. It was more than a bit rough last year. It's a nice add-on to Rob's route, and then you're not near much of the highway.
