Front Brake drum stuck ( 88" 11a)

I started pulling apart the front end of my 11a and got stopped immediately by the three screws that hold the brake drum on. Mine are slotted about 1/2" wide slot. I've had the rover for at least 7 years and have never gone there. I couldn't even guess when the last time those screws were off. I tried to gently unscrew them with the impact gun set on low, but my bit was too small. Do they sell bigger slotted bits? Is there another way of removing these screws(even the stubborn ones)?

Most of the "offshore" tool stores have a little impact criver kit for about $10. These include 4 bits, one of which is usually the perfect size, a socket, and a hammer drive, basically a manual impact. I've had good success with these for getting off the 3 little screw, even if the heads are total shot. Just be careful to use a good pair of leather gloves as the impact sometimes pinches pretty good on the return from the hammer hit. Don't ask me how I know this!

soak the screws with lots of Moov-It or penatrating oil first

I've often found that verbally abusing them and sheer determination works okay... oh ya a hammer and a chisel punch and soak the hell out of them with loosen-all... I also take a hammer too them, smack the heads a couple of times, good and firmly this helps vibrate the threads loose...

But looking at the other posts I might rethink my approach on how I remove them... that and the neighbours complained about my choice of words... ;)

I ran around nelson looking for one of these bits mentioned by Dave but I couldn't come up with much. I do have one of these impact drivers. I tried it tonight for a bit but nothing budged. I soaked them(the screws) with some wd40 and will let them sit overnight and try again in the morning using a blend of everyone here's experience.

Torch'm! Use a plumbers to heat the screws, the different metals should expand at different rates hopefully breaking the hold! Lots of heat!

Also I suggest that you order some new screws and purchase some anti-seize...
