Posting Pictures

#1 Post by Doc Tari » Fri Jan 30, 2009 5:52 pm

I'm trying to post pictures in a thread that are not links, rather the actual photo. Others have done it but I can't figure out how. Did a search on posting pictures but can't seem to find anything. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete

1. Navigate to where the photo is actually on the Internet, and get its address.

2. Paste it in your post, with in back.

3. Submit your post.

Dave,
I've tried that but all that comes out in my post is the url, not the photo. What am I doing wrong...?

Thanks,
Pete

Are you copying the actual image? Or just the page the image is on? If you're getting to the actual image, the end of your web address will almost always be .jpg or .gif. If its ending with .html, .htm, .asp, .php, then you haven't actually got the images real address.

Usually you'll need to right-click images to get access to the actual image address, but some of the better image storage sites provide it in a box right beside the images, such as what Photobucket does.

Hi Dave,
They have jpg at the end but still don't seem to work. Here's an example:

Seem to have figured it out using the links on the side of Photobucket as you suggested. I noticed that there are several character differences in the link I was using and the one Photobucket generates in the blocks along side the picture.

Thanks for the help Dave.

Regards,
Pete

PS: I've finished reading your book on the Canol and would like to get it back to you, will you be coming to the next meeting?

I copied that URL into the address bar, then when I got to the page it appeared to be an html page. Kind of weird how that site handles it. I then right-clicked the image and the option of "View Image" appears. Select this and you get a page that goes to the following address:

http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu19 ... 9667_1.jpg

You can now surround that address by the comments and here's the result...

http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu19 ... 9667_1.jpg

cheers, Dave
