Oxygen Sensors

Might be replacing the O2 sensors shortly

Has anybody tried the sensors without a plug and wired them in?

Thoughts would be appreciated?

Whats the reason for going without the connectors? Price? Ease of access?

I've changed a few of these and I found the first one to be tough as the connectors are fairly well hidden around the back of the block, but with a little practice the job isn't that hard. Price-wise they look quite a bit cheaper, but you're taking a chance that the wires are different colours and you might not get them wired up right.

If you do use them, I would recommend a staggered soldered connection as well as a crimp on sleeve, of course covered with shrink tube and then carefully tied back from any heat sources.

cheers, Dave

Sensors ...

I would remove the old sensors and give them a good clean and put them back in and see if there is any difference. (if you haven't already tried that).
I was able to stretch mine for another year by cleaning them.
When I did finally change mine I went with the same plug type, as there is so many different after-market varieties that this was the only way I could be sure that they were the right ones for my truck.
cheers,
Andy

Well if Andy was able to stretch the life of an O2 sensor out for another year you should give it a try. Andy is the master of breathing life into machinery that any sane person would have given up on years earlier.

Ha ha Billy, your funny

I think its a typical trait of an old Land Rover owner!

I have a black patch on the garden fence from banging out the air filter element so many times ... "oh, it willl be Ok for one more trip"!
Ssshhhhh - dont tell anyone...
