34" x 9.5" tires

Has anyone seen, or installed 34" tires on a RRC, and if so, what does it take to make the truck still articulate without rubbing??? I'm not afraid of cutting!!!

There was an article in LRM about a year ago and the guy had something like 44" tires. He had done a lot of cutting, though, not only to body but suspension mounts as well. But it still had the stock springs, just moved downwards about 5 inches on the frame. I'll see if I can find it, but it sounds like overkill compared to what you're looking for.

Hi Karl

Your question reminded me of an old thread on LO site,

doesn't really answer your question, but on topic and quite entertaining :D

Of course the best place to get that info is either discoweb.org or pirate4x4.com. I am pretty sure that you will be looking at a gearing change as well.

Body lift or longer bump stops and a lot of cutting. You'll need to figure it out on your own vehicle as it depends a lot of the rims you are using and the specifics of your vehicle's geometry (they are not built like a Swiss watch...)

This is the best site for classic RR info: http://www.rangerovers.net/outfitting/t ... #uncharted

Also keep in mind that the stock axles will snap like day old pretzels.

Well that was a pretty good read... Who disagrees with Ian?

OK, I take it back, we don't need to start an argument here!

Hi Karl,

We had 285/75R16's on Jeff's LWB RR with a 2" srping lift and 1.5" body lift. It's a wide tire still rubbed a little on full articulation.

Trimming a couple more inches off the wheel arches might do it, but who are we kidding, you know you want the Maxidrive portal axles and they would solve all the strength, gearing and clearance issues!!

Later,
Don
