200 tdi parts suppliers?

#1 Post by DaveB » Sat Feb 09, 2008 6:28 pm

Anyone have a suggestion as to who stocks parts for the 200 tdi here in Canada?

I'm looking for a bunch of gaskets, some bearings and a rear main seal. I'm doing some preventative maintenance before putting the 200 tdi in our Range Rover. Bearings look good except for a nick on one rod journal, which I think should be machined, and the rear main seal is leaking, so its a lot easier to fix now than wait till its in the truck...

thanks, Dave

Hi Dave

John your machinist phoned me the other day looking for parts. As I told him …there are perhaps 30 of the 200tdi in regular usage in Canada and as only a few of their owners support their local parts suppliers there is no point in stocking anything for them. If the local stockiest are not supported there will soon be fewer…and fewer…I do not stock as much as I did at one time. The restoration side of my business increased to the point where spending an hour to sort/bill/box/trip to post/ send a $5.00 part to a customer was no longer viable. I am still happy to send out parts on my own time (who else stocks BSF and Whitworth)? I am rambling…It is good to see your asking for Canadian suppliers. I gave him RPB’s and Dixon’s names.

i am new here and from the uk. joined the forum as i am looking at a move to bc......
i was going to say to leave the rear main seal alone till you mentioned that it is leaking. i used to replace them regardless when i had an engine out and soon learnt that it can be more trouble than its worth, so if they are dry i leave well alone these days.....
as for parts, i can help out if you need as i ship tdi engines and defenders to the continental usa in my spare time....... have plenty in stock right now so keep a few parts kicking around too.... let me know

Duncan.
