As someone brought this thread back to life... My Landy passed with no problems. IIRC there are some exemptions for new settlers' vehicles, but it had no side reflectors, no DRLs (I think that is one of the exemptions?), but it did have a high level brake light (those are exempt as well from memory)...

Have noticed it rising a bit... Also noticed that Shell in the Okanagan appear to have been caught out with the amount of anti-gel additive required in the cold snap. The worst fill-up I have had so far. Just think yourselves lucky that you aren't in Britain, where diesel is currently the equivalent...

Spotted twice in the last two days on Leathead Road and Edwards Road at the north end of town. Yellow (mustard) LHD 110 Van - 'possibly in need of paint'... Anyone on here? The licence plate must be quite a recently-issued one and local, as it is close to my one. Didn't manage to get a photo either ...

How long have you been driving (clean)? A very long time, however it is very difficult to get ICBC to accept the Insurance History letters that you get from UK insurance companies. Of the 8 years you can submit (to get 5% discount per year), they rejected 7 of the letters because they only had firs...

Due to Christmas preparations, the furthest off road so far has been up the driveway (albeit a long, slippery steep one!). Post-Christmas adventures may transpire, however I have just noticed that a fuel tank leak has appeared. Trust me to decide to get a tank full.... May be the seam, or the sender...

All licensed and on the road!

The hardest job was paying for the insurance. Ouch.

Second hardest was drilling the winch bumper for the front license plate! Had to buy a new drill :roll:

On their first 'go' past our old house in the UK, it was in mid-renovation and they went past on the day I was collecting stuff on the drive to take to the tip.

Embarrassing!

Fortunately they went past again sometime last year and the house is now presentable!

Thanks all - over 15 years old, LHD and importing from the UK, so RIV doesn't apply and just needs the basic safety inspection? I've seen posts on various forums suggesting that some vehicle inspectors on the register don't know what they are doing with over 15 year old imports, hence to save hassle...

Anyone go any recommendations for inspection garages in Kelowna?

My Defender should pass with no problems, however there will still be better places to go to than others.

Mike's British Repairs on KLO for example?

Any other places regulars could recommend?

Originally expected via the long sea route via Panama Canal, now coming on the short sea route to Montreal and onward to Vancouver via CP Rail. Expected to arrive in Kelowna in about 3 weeks time now! Then it will just be the mortgage for ICBC insurance to deal with!!! Currently loading in Royal Sea...

Didn't spot the wheel arch.

Looks awful!

I can see why they haven't sold it....

Might go and look anyway - ask them if they put an extra '2' at the beginning by mistake or if the salesman had a stammer!

Now there's an idea! She's a July 1997 300TDi with one German owner from new and fairly full service history.
