Well looks like you could slip a playing card around that stuff so you should be good...... Like others have stated, 3/4" or more would be better Look for different brackets in the hot rod world that will make the packaging easier ( the 4.3 Chevrolet and the 350 V8 share very similar block layouts )...

Years ago I had a mechanic at my work who swore that draining a litre of oil out , refilling with a litre of diesel in the engine and running until warmed up then draining was the best thing for engine life . All I ever do is change it out fairly regularly never really had a problem so YMMV

Have you tried soaking the relay with penetrating oil? ( a 50\50 mix of acetone and ATF works great and it's cheap) or PB blaster?... Re: Oil Sump / Pan Sealant 300tdi - What else?

Well if your rear main seal was leaking you'd probably know just by the Exxon Valdez like oil stain where you park... To do the rear main the transmission/transfer box and clutch/ flywheel has to come off, and if you are going to re seal the oil pan too you might as well renew the T seals as you are...

If you are doing your rear main seal at the same time, don't make the same mistake I did and replace your T seals on the #5 main bearing cap .I did not and my oil pan and rear main have to come out again ... Very frustrating indeed. Oh and right stuff is the way to go

personally I have a Miller 251 mig welder that will weld pretty much anything up to 1/2" thick , but for the metal thickness on the " average " rover repair a lincoln or miller 220 volt 175 amp wirefeed machine would be just fine ...... what you really gain by going to a KMS or welding shop machine ...
