New Defender is on the Island

Victoria JLR have just received a 110. Looked like top of the range c/w roof rack. Why is it that everything that comes out of JLR these days look so aggressive and menacing? Worth a look if you are down that way. But not for me. Although seems like they may be be introducing a stripped version for ...

Re: Got a few things cleaned up on the Disco

Well keep an eye on it! When we were in Africa it was not uncommon for someone to loose their roof top ten and whatever contraption it was attached to. Probably exacerbated by rough sand tracks and washboard. But not to dissimilar with our FSR’s if you are in a hurry. Hannibal held up well, and Patr...

Hello Andy, By “Collection” are you referring to Phil Bashall’s Dunsfold Collection? And are you saying it was built in Canada? What position on the pump drive can you insert the pin? It should be at approx 10 to the hour. It’s also possible to orient the pump drive slots at 20 past the hour using the same flywheel marking.

Hi Colin, Following on from Rob’s thoughts... Do you know whether you have a ballasted supply or direct 12 volt. Ballasted supply 8-9 V should have a 1.5 Ohm coil, and 12 V a 3 Ohm coil. Check voltage at the +ve coil terminal with the ignition switched on but not cranking the starter. Coil resistanc...

Only 12 volt supply to the starter motor and diesel shutoff. That is their charm.

Grinding noise and a bit of vibration - usually tyres rubbing on the radius arms. Easily corrected by adjusting the stop bolts on the hubs.
Whining or moaning noise is an indication that the steering pump is on the way out.
