Re: 1973 Land Rover Series 3 88” for sale

Yeah, that's the same rover that was advertised on FB about a month ago. It was up in the Cariboo (family owned for 25 years) and sold for about $8,000 and was immediately posted for sale again at a higher price by this current seller.

Re: 1973 Land Rover Series 3 88” for sale

Late 2A is my guess, 2a hints (in addition to those already noted) are the turn signal switch, shift knob, clutch slave cylinder location... if they are calling it a 1973 series 3 it makes me wonder if it is a VIN-swapped rover? Or maybe they just don't have the info correct on the paperwork, wouldn...

Re: Lots of wiring but....

Looks like it has been rewired along the way... none of that is typical of a series 2a rover (though it is VERY typical of wiring reworks done by series 2A owners)... like Red said, follow the wires. I also suggest you make a schematic diagram. Personally I'd figure out a way to protect the fuse pan...

Re: Series 2a issues...where to start

I think Colin is giving you good advice about the brake MC being seized. Another thing to look at, if the rover has been sitting for quite awhile, is that the brake pedal could be seized from corrosion as well. I have dealt with this from a long stationary rover and the best solution I found was to ...

Hi Paul All the towing/flatbed companies will be about the same. 49th Parallel towing (Ladysmith) or McBrides (Chemainus) are small independents that both do good work. Agree with Red on this one... a couple of BFH's usually do the trick. Old school "pickle forks" ruin the rubber covers and "C-Clamp" style are bulky and hard to fit in the space you have on a series truck. Here 's a good video on track rod ends, more focused on the Defender/RRC/D1 vehicles but the c...

One important question: What color is the smoke? If it is black it is likely over-fueling, grey with a "sweet" smell is anti-freeze and bluish is oil burning. Assuming it is bluish (oil): smoke all the time is often related to the engine being worn-out (oil getting past the rings while the pistons a...
