The guy with the horns on his truck and I are standing in the rain analyzing how in the world we're gonna get down the slope. Here we're looking at the first 30 yards or so of the steps, before the corner. The downhill angle is pretty accurate.

It started raining just as we prepared for our descent

Steep slippery downhill at the Steps, including a 15° off-camber on the shelf, and a lovely drop into oblivion. People die on this trail regularly. Note the city of Telluride far below.

Mark, one of the trail leaders, spotting. This was very steep, e-brake on full, as well as both feet on the brakes as the booster was doing little to assist at this altitude.
