Dixon Lake Snow Run?!?

Four trucks made it for what was hoped to be our second snow run of the year -- Andy, Shawn, Dave and Kris & Mark

Lots of big puddles, but the snow was virtually all melted.

Climbing a steep slope to the first washout.

Andy's Range Rover made it look easy.

The road used to be closed here, but was passable.

Big loose rocks on the road made this more of a challenge.

The second washout, this one a wee bit rougher.

But even at a good angle you can see that it was challenging.

A washout that just about stopped us. We had to stop for 20 minutes here and build up rocks on the left side to make this washout/waterfall passable.

Checking out the huge boulder that decided to jump in between Shawn's front tire and spring. This took a bit of fiddling to dislodge.

Another short breather. Decision time. Do we proceed and hope to find a way back to a main road, or do we turn around and go back over all the rough stuff?

Proceed it is. The map/GPS shows a link to the Chehailis Lake logging road, and Dave remembers doing this about 10 years ago. Hopefully its still open.

Mark felt the road give way as he drove over, Dave got over and it fell away further underneath him, so we had to stop and bridge it a bit for Andy and Shawn. About 4 feet deep, the water had washed around a deeply buried culvert pipe. This was on a fa...
